Reduced breathing can effectively reduce or even eliminate allergies and allow one to discontinue the use of prescription drugs. Allergies to dust, pollen, mold, cats, dogs, humidity, food and many more, can be eliminated by learning to breathe differently, which in turn transforms our cellular metabolism and the functioning of the immune system.
The medical establishment does not fully understand the root cause of allergies, although there is generally an agreement that allergies occur due to a dysfunctional immune response to exposure to certain substances, such as those mentioned above. The medical establishment has achieved some success in treating the symptoms of allergies with medication, but they have not been able to cure the condition because they do not realize the root cause.
Konstantin Buteyko had a theory that allergies are caused by hyperventilation. In his research he found that those who suffered from allergies were over-breathers. As you may have read elsewhere on this site, over-breathing leads to a deficit of carbon dioxide in the body, which leads to a deficit of oxygen in the cells, which, in turn, leads to a change in cellular metabolism, from aerobic to anaerobic. You can think of anaerobic respiration as a sort of metabolic overdrive, which wears out the body, the cells, and alters the function of the immune system. Low carbon dioxide alters mast cells which results in increased histamine production.
Over-breathers, who breathe 2-3 times as much air as healthy individuals, also breath in 2-3 times as much dust, pollen, or pet dander as healthy individuals, contributing even further to this dysfunctional immune response. When over-breathing is corrected, less allergens are inhaled, carbon dioxide levels are restored, histamine production goes down, and allergies naturally dissipate.
I used to struggle allergies, but once I corrected my over-breathing habit through the application of the Buteyko method, I have been totally free of allergies. As the Spring season approaches, I know that many people will be struggling with allergies. If you are one of those people, or you know one of those people, please reach out to me; I love to help! As always, my individual coaching is free of charge, but I do accept donations.
